Picking on Bochy

A pet peeve of mine is when teams going nowhere (i.e. Giants) play washed up veterans instead of promising rookies.  What is the point of playing Omar Vizquel?  He is 1 for his last 25 and hitting .197 overall.  Why keep a young guy like Emmanuel Burriss on the team if he is only going to sit  the bench?  Why have Burriss bat 8th when he does play?  He is a huge stolen base guy ( 68 bases in the minors last year) but how do you utilize his speed when everytime he gets on base the pitcher bunts him over!  Wouldn't it be better to at least bat him 7th so he has a chance to steal when he does get on?  That kind of situation directly reflects upon Bochy's managing skills.  He sets the lineup.

Picking on Bochy

Bochy needs to be fired but the guys in charge apparently dont pay any attention to how bad their team is playing so the Giants deserve to lose but they should try to at least play the guys who have potential.

Picking on Bochy

Even if Maddux wanted to come out, I cant understand why the pinch hitter bunted instead of going for the hit.  The runner was already on 2nd.  There were no outs.  What made it even more unusual was that Maddux went to the plate, then after there was a balk and the runner went to 2nd he was then pinch hit for.  Why send Maddux up there in the first place if he wanted to come out of the game?

Picking on Bochy

you were "picking on Bochy" again in the glog for the june 5th game where you said "It sure was nice of Bud Black to screw Maddux out of a win."

Maddux had thrown 69 pitches through 7 innings, but you need to take a closer look at Maddux, not Bochy.  He has a long history both in Sd and with the Braves of taking himself out of the game with a low pitch count.  It used to drive Braves fans nuts (and delight Mets fans like myself.)  Maddux is a wuss who is unwilling to pitch deep into games even when his pitch count is low, this isn't Bochy's fault.
